AFFLICTIONS - Ralph Dog
Released October 2002
Compact Disc
Catalog # : BHH2052
Arrogant, energy, insight, ravenous, controversial, rage, rebel - these are some
of the words that have been used to describe the outrageous demeanour that separates
Chicago's Ralph Dog from the multitude of rap artists out there. This self confessed
loner who was raised in and by the streets was drawn to music in his teen years,
inspired by the infectious sounds of artists like Schoolly D, Big Daddy Kane and
the Sex Pistols.

Armed with his gravel-like voice, he shoots from the hip with lyrics that come
directly from the emotional roller coaster that is his everyday life. Backed by
a homegrown fusion of hip-hop, heavy metal and funk he is the mouthpiece of the
people caught up in the everyday struggle. "I represent the people who don't
have shit. Basically I say what others won't say about todays society. I'm a fucking
rebel," says Ralph Dog.
His adrenaline fuelled 12-track CD explodes with the first song, the headbanging
"Time Bomb." On this cut Ralph Dog vents his frustration at today's
society. Cornball rappers get beatdown by Ralph's one man mosh pit on the rowdy
ass anthem "Nerd Killer". There is a guided tour through the mind of
an "Average Psycho" and this Alcoholics Anonymous poster child serves
up a straight shot of beats, rhymes and life on the inebriated "Dipsomaniac".
At the cross roads of life, where riches, burnt bridges and unbeaten paths meet
Ralph takes time out to ponder the many obstacles that life has thrown in his
way on "Stood All Alone". Paying his repects to old school hip-hop Ralph
Dog takes it back to 1983 with a remix of the famous b-boy song HipHop Be-Bop
called "HipHop Re-Bop 2002". This song features a special vocoder guest
appearance by the legendary Man Parrish. "Keep
on Fighting" paints vivid pictures of the trials and tribulations that he
faces in his everyday struggle to not bow down to the music industry's giant moneymaking
machines. He barks "Fake ass frauds win awards and get applause / and go
on tours and claim to be hard-core / makin' wack-ass songs for the Billboard".
Ralph Dog refuses to pull any punches while bringing his message to the people
on this engaging and thought provoking release.
